HELLO!
My name is Paige and I strive to learn something new every. single. day. I am dually-licensed in social work and speech-language pathology with a clinical therapy interest in pediatrics, specifically early intervention and Autism. You might be thinking... How does this translate to instructional design? Don't worry, I'm getting to that part. When working with this population, specifically young children, most of the focus is on educating parents and other professionals regarding the child's skills and needs. This is where my interest in adult learning and design really started to blossom. I have always enjoyed designing products for my company and co-workers, and best practice for teaching adults new skills was something that I independently researched for many years. Incorporating adult learning theories and designing informative (but FUN) ways to teach parents and adults is something that I have grown to love.
CURRENT INTERESTS
Right now, I cannot stop researching and learning about behavioral economics and cognitive psychology. The way the brain works and is motivated (a.k.a. manipulated) by outside stimuli is so interesting to me. I have lots of thoughts about how to implement some of these strategies into learning and instructional design.
